DOE (NNSA) announced on June 8, 2018 that the new M&O contract for LANL had been awarded to Triad National Security, LLC. Triad consists of Battelle Memorial Institute, the Regents of the University of California, and the Regents of Texas A&M University. Fluor Federal Services, Huntington Ingalls Industries/Stoller Newport News, Longenecker & Associates, TechSource, Strategic Management Solutions and Merrick & Company will support Triad National Security, LLC in the performance of the contract.
On July 9, DOE issued a “notice to proceed” to Triad to begin the formal contract transition period, which will last until November 1st. The incoming Triad Lab Director Thom Mason was introduced at an all-employee meeting on July 16.
In early September 2018, Triad National Security, LLC announced that NNSA approved their proposed benefits plan. Triad will become the M&O (Management and Operating) contractor for Los Alamos National Laboratory on November 1, 2018. In a message to Laboratory employees, Triad said: “With regards to the retirement plans, Triad will assume full responsibility for both TCP1 and TCP2 and there will be no change with respect to employee contributions or employer matching contributions. The current retiree medical will also continue as is, along with the various active employee medical and insurance options.”
Triad has not yet made some important information about retiree benefits available. Presumably retirees will learn more about our benefits before Open Enrollment for retirees takes place. LRG has not yet gotten information about when this will be, although it will likely be on similar dates as Open Enrollment for employees. The Laboratory announced that Open Enrollment for employees will be November 5 to 19, 2018.
